What time is check-in/check-out?

Check-in begins at 4:00 PM. Check-out is by 11:00 AM.

Is early check-in or late check-out available?

Both early check-in and late check-out may be possible but not guaranteed. To inquire, please contact the front desk at 401-324-7500. Please note: Early check-in or late check-out cannot be guaranteed and are subject to availability. If you anticipate needing either, it’s best to call ahead so we can do our best to accommodate your request.

What are the front desk & lobby hours?

24 hours. Quiet hours between 10 pm and 8am.

Is smoking permitted at Hammetts Hotel & Hammetts Wharf?

Smoking is not permitted on our deck or in our guest rooms. A $250 cleaning fee will be applied if guests smoke in their room.

Is there wi-fi and do I need a password?

Complimentary wi-fi is available on The Hammetts Hotel Guest network and no password is required.

Can my luggage be stored at the hotel?

We offer luggage storage for all registered guests.

Can you receive and hold my packages at the hotel?

We accept and hold packages at the front desk provided they are clearly addressed to a registered guest of the hotel.

Is the hotel pet friendly?

Hammetts is a pet free hotel.

Do you allow photo shoots?

Yes, we allow photoshoots and would be excited to collaborate on behalf of the hotel. Please give us advance notice by contacting press@mainstreethotels.com to coordinate.

Do you have a rewards program?

No, we do not have a rewards program at this time.

How often does the exhibit in the Sarah Langley Gallery Change and how do I purchase art from the gallery?

The gallery exhibits change every three to four months. All inquiries to purchase the artwork can be made via email to newport.curates@gmail.com.

I want flowers, chocolates, champagne, gifts etc sent to the room. How do I do this?

You can absolutely arrange flowers, chocolates, champagne or other gift-items to be sent to your room at Hammetts Hotel. Here’s how to do it: Contact the Front Desk ahead of your arrival and let us know:

The guest name and room number (if known). The date and approximate time you’d like the item delivered. A description of the item (flowers, chocolates, champagne, etc.) If there are any special instructions (card message, specific placement in room, etc.) We’ll coordinate storage and delivery: we’ll accept the package at the front desk and arrange to have it placed in the guest’s room.

Note a few helpful things: The package should be clearly addressed to the guest staying at the hotel (matching reservation name). If you’re requesting champagne or alcoholic items, please check in advance for any hotel policies (ID for guest, responsible consumption, etc.).

ROOMS/RESERVATIONS

Are there additional fees? Destination/Resort Fees?

No additional destination or resort fees are charged. However, please note the guest parking valet fee: $45 + tax per night from May 1 – October 31. $35 + tax per night from November 1 – April 30.

What types of rooms and suites do you have available?

We offer a range of rooms and suites tailored to different needs. Our Standard King rooms come with a king bed plus a narrow daybed, and our Standard Queen rooms include a queen bed plus a twin-sized daybed. For upgraded options, we have Marina View King rooms and Marina View Studio Suites overlooking the marina. We also offer two City View 1-Bedroom Suites and two Water View 1-Bedroom Suites for extra space and views. Finally, for accessibility needs, we provide ADA King and ADA Queen rooms designed for comfort and convenience.

Are there rooms with two beds or can a roll-away bed be brought to a room?

All guest rooms have either one king or queen size bed in the room and a built-in daybed with extra linen conveniently located in the draw underneath. All suites have a full-sized sleeper sofa.

Are there accessible bathrooms available?

All of our accessible guest rooms feature bathrooms designed for accessibility.

Are accessible rooms or amenities available?

We offer accessible rooms. In addition, the property provides accessible-amenity features like shower chairs and accessible parking and public areas. If you have specific needs (e.g., roll-in showers, transfer-height counters, visual alarms), please let us know at the time of booking so we can confirm availability.

Do you offer breast milk storage for parents? Can I arrange a milk-safe fridge during my stay?

We have a staff-accessible refrigerator in our back-office area where we can store your belongings securely. In addition, upon request and subject to availability, we offer mini-fridges in guest rooms which can also be used for breast-milk storage.

What is your cancellation/deposit policy?

From May 1 to October 31, we require a 50% deposit at the time of booking, and cancellation must be made at least 7 days prior to arrival.
From November 1 to April 30, we require a 50% deposit at booking, and cancellations must be made at least 72 hours (3 days) before arrival.

Where should I park my car?

Valet parking with unlimited in/out privileges is available on our property—a real perk during busy seasons in Newport! Parking is $35+tax per night from November 1st to April 30th and $45+tax per night from May 1st to October 31st.

How can I modify or cancel my reservation?

You can use the booking modification tool on our website by entering your reservation confirmation number. If you prefer, you may also call us at 401-324-7500 or email frontdesk@hammettshotel.com to request changes.

Do you have an early departure fee?

Please note that if you depart earlier than your originally scheduled check-out date, the standard cancellation policy applies. That means if you booked under the terms for May 1-October 31, your booking remains subject to the 50% deposit and 7-day cancellation policy; if under November 1-April 30, the 50% deposit and 72-hour cancellation policy apply. If you anticipate needing to leave early, we recommend contacting the front desk in advance so we can explain any charges and attempt to accommodate your stay changes.

Is my ID/passport required at check-in?

All adults checking in at the hotel must present a valid government-issued photo ID that matches the name on the reservation, and also provide a method of payment in the same name.

Is there an age requirement to check into a room?

The minimum age to check in is 21 years old.

Do you have connecting rooms?

We offer connecting rooms at the Hammetts Hotel. They include options such as: A suite (e.g., the “Exchange Suite” or “Maritime Suite”) that can connect to a standard King or Queen room. Standard King or Queen rooms also do have connecting/adjoining rooms available. Please note that connecting rooms are subject to availability and must be requested in advance. We recommend mentioning this when you book or contact the front desk to ensure we can accommodate your request.

Does the hotel have a meeting or event center?

We provide meeting and event spaces suitable for board meetings, team sessions, etc. Combined, the Sullivan and Murray rooms offer approximately 811 sq ft of space. We offer external catering, audio-visual hookups, and customized set-ups to suit your event type.

Is there a fitness center on property?

Yes, the fitness center overlooks downtown Newport and has cardio equipment, free weights, and a BODYCRAFT all-in-one machine.

Is there a business center on-site?

We do not have a dedicated business center on-site. However, we are happy to assist with any printing or business-service needs you may have. Just let us know and we’ll coordinate it for you.

Is there a pool? What are the hours?

We do not have a pool on-site at the hotel. However, our front desk team is happy to assist you by providing a list of nearby pools available for day-use in the area.

Is there a spa on site? What are the hours?

We don’t have a spa located within the hotel. However, we’re just minutes away from some of Newport’s top wellness destinations. Our Front Desk team can guide you with a current list of nearby spas, their hours, and available treatments and also will gladly help coordinate a reservation for you.

Is there on-site laundry?

We do not have a self-service laundry facility on-site. However, our front desk can coordinate pick-up/drop-off laundry service with a local dry cleaner for your convenience.

Does the hotel have refrigerators or microwaves?

The hotel does not have refrigerators or microwaves in guest rooms or available to be brought to guest rooms.

LOCATION & PARKING

How do I get there?

Because the hotel is right on the waterfront and in the busy downtown area, traffic and parking can be tight during peak summer weekends. Allow a little extra time. Valet parking includes unlimited in-and-out privileges. If you arrive early and your room isn’t ready yet, the front desk can assist with bag storage and vehicle parking.

The property is located at 4 Commercial Wharf, at the intersection of Commercial Wharf & Thames Street in downtown Newport, Rhode Island.

Does the hotel provide transportation?

We do not provide on-site hotel transportation. However, being right in the heart of downtown Newport, we’re within easy reach of the city’s main services and our front desk is happy to assist you with arranging a taxi, rideshare, or local car service.

Do you have on-site parking?

We have on-site valet parking only in our covered garage. You can park, and the team will valet your car for you. Here are the rates for your reference: $45 + tax per night from May 1 to October 31. $35 + tax per night from November 1 to April 30.

There is very minimal street parking in Newport and most of the parking is residential or metered parking. Parking lots near the hotel charge a fee for day parking with no in and out privileges and charge additional fees for overnight parking.

Complimentary Illy coffee and Dammann Tea is available in the lobby daily from 6am-12pm.

We have a restaurant-partner just outside the hotel: Giusto Newport (located at 4 Commercial Wharf) which operates independently but right on our deck.

Is breakfast served on property?

The restaurant does not serve breakfast; however, the front desk is always available to recommend places for breakfast that are nearby.

We do not offer traditional in-room dining or room service, as we don’t operate our own food & beverage outlet. Instead, guests are welcome to use delivery apps and our front desk will gladly accept and hold deliveries for you.
